Ohio’s public schools depend on levying and collecting property taxes as a main source of funding. Under state law, a municipality can impose a forfeiture of property taxes without school board consent. Clark-Shawnee Local (Clark) explains how this causes districts to suffer financially and discusses efforts to change the law.
